다비드 자맹 David Jamin(1970~ )

다비드 자맹은 1970년 11월24일 프랑스 남부의 작은 도시 님 Nimes에서 태어났다. 소년 시절 가족의 이사로 북부의 깔레 Calais로 옮긴 뒤 그곳에서 15년간 미술을 공부했다.

20대 중반의 무명작가로 Art World Gallery와 작업을 시작하자마자, 콜렉터들의 열광적인 러브콜로 그림이 팔리게 되면서 곧바로 국제적인 호평과 함께 수많은 상을 받으며 단숨에 촉망 받는 중요한 작가가 되었다. 이후 프랑스를 비롯하여 영국, 네덜란드, 스위스, 이태리 등 유럽 전역과 미국 뉴욕, 캐나다 몬트리올 등에서 전시를 이어 나가고 있다.

최근엔 한국과 중국에서 전시를 하게 되면서 아시아 미술계에도 그의 이름은 더 이상 낯설지 않다. 현재 파리 등 유럽 주요 도시에서 그의 작품을 만나볼 수 있으며, 국내에선 삼성 블루스퀘어홀에서 2016년 상연된 뮤지컬 <마타하리>의 대형 아트웍을 통해 큰 화제를 낳은 바 있다.

2013년 프랑스 남부 우체즈 Uzès에 갤러리/작업실을 열어 현재까지 부인 세브린 Séverine, 두 아이 위고 Hugo, 롤라 Lola와 함께 살고 있다.​
